The History of Lenham

Although small Lenham has a long history dating back to the Saxon times, the square which forms the centre of the village is surrounded by buildings originating from Medieval to Georgian times. The pharmacy is graded as an historic building of Kent and is part of the typical Wealden timbered framed house. The Royal Arms over the door of the Dog and Bear Hotel commemorate the time when Queen Ann once stayed in the inn.

Sojourn's View

Lenham is a charming little village just below the North Downs, set 5 miles away from the splendid Leeds Castle. As you enter the village and go straight to the heart you come across an Idyllic square with a cluster of antique shops along one side. All in all the combination of the square and the half-timbered houses Lenham is a place you must visit if passing in order to gain an experience of a Kentish village and of course to visit a typical English pub.
