The History of Horsmonden

In it’s day Horsmonden was the centre of iron making, and today the pond which lies on the west of the village is a reminder of this as it is one of the finest artificial lakes used by iron masters.
Another historical fact about Horsmonden is that it is where the 17th century gunmaker John Browne designed cannons for Oliver Cromwell and Charles I.

Sojourn's View

Horsmonden is a small village with perhaps not a lot to see or do once there, but if you are in the area perhaps on your way to Tunbridge Wells then driving though will allow you to see a typical small English village. A walk in the countryside is lovely and there is a public footpath leading straight to Horsmonden church, which is a peaceful and relaxing walk of two miles.
